If your gonna toot your horn, do it well!

J. started band this school year and is doing really well. Just the other day I walked in to the room and heard him playing "Angels we have heard on high" perfectly.  I asked if he had learned it in band and he said "no I just thought of it so I tried to play it"!

Practice hard and you will go far my son!

Sick and Tired!

Sick and Tired!

Yep that's right.

We seem to always have someone either

sick

or

tired!

And I am SICK AND TIRED of it!

Does that sum it up?

Just 5 days (Jan 5) after moving here I finally gave up on my kids getting better by themselves
(at least one of them had been sick since Thanksgiving--why did I wait because they would get better and worse or trade off who was the sickest)

So off to find a pediatrician we went.

Oh wait we need to pick our insurance with the new job first.

Oh and how do we get an insurance card to give to the doc?

Oh and don't forget the Rx info too!

Amazingly that night all 4 kiddos got their dose of antibiotic and went to bed.

Two days after finishing the antibiotic B. said to me

"Mom I can't hear again"

Uggh!

I already was going to see the ENT about W.
(since this is the first winter without ear tubes and it wasn't turning out very well)
so why not B. also.

Two weeks later W. and B. are in surgery.

W. got his adenoids out and tubes in.

B. got his adenoids and tonsils out.

B. was really excited-counting down the days excited.
Why? Because he knew he was getting a milk shake.

Little did he know that he would be so miserable he wouldn't want one at all.
It is almost 2 weeks since the surgery and he is still hurting and has to be careful about what he eats.

In the mean time W. has gotten a cold and so have I!

Yahoo!

NOT!

B. is now getting a drippy nose....

I love mortal life!

Snow days!!

Ok I have decided they are "Snow Day" happy here in Colorado.

We have had 2 "big" storms since we moved here and each time we have had snow days.
I have always thought that the only place to have snow days were places that never get snow and don't know how to deal with it.
Ya know like Phoeinix or LA.

The second storm kind of went from COLD to SNOW in one long storm.
Well not be be left out this morning the stake called a snow day too!

Yep that's right no church!

Maybe they wanted to get in on the fun or was it the Super Bowl?..hmm.

They say it was the roads but...

Ok last night I was driving the Sister Missionaries home
(Mission Pres "parked" the cars in the mission till the roads were better)
I was not just sliding a bit here and there but almost every time I hit the brakes my anti-lock brakes went on.
The scariest slide was when  I was going down a big hill which intersects with a major light.
I saw I had a red light and was worried about sliding so I started using my brakes FAR away from the light.  It was only about halfway down a.  Immediatly I felt the pulse of my anti-lock brakes and only slowed down a little bit. I stayed like that until I slid into the intersection against the light.  The last bit I pushed on those brakes as hard as I could. I slid into the intersection and turned.

Gratitude

is what you feel when you realize there is a break in traffic and you are not going to crash!

Whew!

Ok so maybe the "snow day" was legite this time!

Umbrella's!

We got B. a new umbrella and he had to take a picture.

He won't let it out of his backpack in case he needs it.

W. won't be left out so

Rain when are you coming?

A month!

It has been just over a month since our move and we are...
still moving
hoping for pictures to get on the wall
making plans to have parties so my kids can get to know other kids
(Oh wait I guess I need to not have boxes everywhere for that to happen)
Can find my way to most stores
recognize more than 17 faces at church
maybe put a name with 10 of them.

We are doing pretty good!

"Time In!"

Imagine if you will that we are sitting around the table having dinner as a family.  All the kids are anxious to be the one to talk and get the most attention.

I know this never happens at your house only my children are like this right?

So in an attempt to create some peace and quiet we start playing
the "quiet game".
This doesn't last long before B. feels he has to say something and loudly calls out
"Time Out"
noise erupts and he says again
"Time Out"
Not to be out done by an older brother W. says with a smile

"Time In!"
